THORLABS | MULTIPLE CLEANROOM PROJECTS

Client: Thorlabs Quantum Electronics
Location: Jessup, MD
Size: 16,000 SF

CFR served as the MEP Engineer of Record (EOR) and Prime Project Manager for the renovation and expansion of the Thorlabs facility, nearly doubling its size. The project involved MEP design for 16,000 square feet of fabrication and support areas, including cleanroom spaces of varying classifications: 1,350 SF Class 100/ISO 5, 2,000 SF Class 1000/ISO 6, 4,500 SF Class 10,000/ISO 7, and 1,200 SF Class 100,000/ISO 8. The design also included upgrading the Coater Room Air Handling Units from packaged gas/electric to chilled water/steam reheat systems. Additionally, the fit-out of the existing single-story, high-bay area included new offices, storage, and warehouse spaces, some with hazard ratings.

NANO TECH LAB CLIENT | DEEP UV PHOTO CLEAN ROOM

Client: Confidential
Location: Linthicum Heights, MD
Size: 2,645 SF

CFR provided project management, MEP and structural engineering, and cleanroom construction consultant services for the renovation/expansion of 2,645 SF operating nano-fabrication Class 100/ISO 5 clean room. CFR performed HVAC upgrades to reduce the humidity in the room and to achieve a design set point of 70°F +/- 2°F and 40% +/- 2% relative humidity. CFR modified and designed new HVAC system(s), plumbing and electrical associated with the HVAC upgrades to support the current system(s) already in place.
